The MHA official stated “As many as 5,789 associations did not apply for renewal of their certificates despite numerous reminders. Of the applications received, 179 were refused renewal after a scrutiny by the MHA found them ineligible to receive foreign funds. We are processing the request of other NGOs who have applied and due to the pendency an extension was given till March,” said the official.

According to Dhaval Udani, founder of DanaMojo, an online payment platform for NGOs, the number of NGOs whose FCRA “ceased” to operate doubled overnight. “It also does not seem to be a case where the NGOs were informed earlier and site updated now.

Several NGOs could not complete the renewal process due to the pandemic and the amendments to the FCRA Act in 2020 that introduced other stringent compliance measures.

Once they fulfill the existing requisite guidelines of Government of India again they will be restored. Rule of law is their in this country if they have objections than the doors of courts are opened. (this sounds like an official)

Rule of law is applicable to all. . Government should regulate all types of funding (internal and external) to all NGOs of the country. Authorities of the country should also regulate the immovable properties of all NGOs of the country.

Whether licenses of 6000 or 60000 NGOs were cancelled is not the issue. The central issue is if there is evidence that these NGOs were functioning without proper documents. And if evidence exists, 6 or 6000 does not matter. Good journalism should point out evidence or lack of it; not number of NGOs.

Tushar Hows these so called NGO operates and use there money is the biggest problem . some of these NGOs just act as a operation station for foreign entits who wants to create disturbance in India .on the front of help for public these NGOs work as influence points for foreign seperatist who funds for violence and public unrest created by fund provided by these foreign backers . Happy that government just stopping these people from operating in India.

All the NGO whose foreign grants receivables are not permitted, know pretty well that their activities are anti national and therefore the action taken is correct. The social medias must work for favour of our nation and not religions-oriented.They should stop their illusioned biassed flattery of non local religions.

Many NGOs are only on paper and they get foreign contributions. Some time back, the govt had alleged that some of the NGOs are not filing tax returns. They have to show the end-use of funds. There are possibilities that some part of this money can end up with anti-nationals. The govt has every right to monitor and take action against the so-called NGOs.

Charity is good, but in the name of Charity what are all going on against cultural and national interest is the core. There is a government to monitor to ensure welfare of people are prioritised, otherwise will of people can correct it.GOI is in right path.Hope no anti-national activities
