Several videos surfaced on social media showing hundreds of students protesting in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur district on Tuesday (July 28) demanding better infrastructure facilities in their school. The protests were held at Sarvodaya Inter College, a government-aided school with classes up to Class 12 and nearly 1,800 students, in Kishanpur town. In the videos, which have now become viral, students were seen carrying portraits of B.R. Ambedkar and placards that read: ‘College ki vyavastha sudharo, bacchon ka bhavishya sanwaro (Improve the college’s condition, secure the future of its students)’. They shouted slogans: ‘Humari maangey puri karo (Fulfill our demands).’
The students were demanding four fans in every classroom, repair of electrical wiring in the school premises, additional desks and benches, the provision of meals as per the prescribed menu, an RO unit and a water cooler unit.
