The three new criminal laws betray a narrow spirit of nationalism https://theleaflet.in/the-three-new-criminal-laws-betray-a-narrow-spirit-of-nationalism/ Dec 23, 2023
Union home minister Amit Shah, , “Under the leadership of Modiji, I have brought Bills that lay emphasis on Indianness, the Indian Constitution and the well-being of the people. The laws are being changed in the spirit of the Constitution.”
It is common knowledge that the Indian Constitution is in spirit an Anglo-Saxon one, with its emphasis on freedom, the rights of the people and democratic governance, which Indians never had in their 5,000-year-old history, despite Modi’s excessive claim that India is the mother of democracy. the spirit behind the colonial laws— was that justice means not punishing the innocent, accepting that a person is innocent until proven otherwise and letting a hundred criminals go free rather than punish a single innocent person.

The BNS, BNSS and the BSA: Turning a De Facto Police Regime to a De Jure Police State
A careful scrutiny of the 3 new laws passed in December, 2023 – the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) – reveals a concerted attempt to:
(a) Weaponise the law by criminalising ordinary acts of democratic and peaceful means of expressing dissent and opposition to state policies

Studies show that 65% of Kerala’s coastline is undergoing erosion, the second highest rate in the country after West Bengal’s 70%. https://thewire.in/environment/caught-between-land-and-sea-keralas-coastal-communities-weigh-climate-stress-against-livelihood
Residents consistently express a deep attachment to the region and consider life in coastal areas to be the best, except for the threat of the encroaching sea. This is evident in their responses to extreme events: unless their house becomes uninhabitable, people prefer to go back, repair, rebuild and resettle. This cycle often continues for years before they start considering migration as a viable option. By then, they are financially exhausted and, in many cases, in debt.
Relocation housing is provided for a limited number of coastal residents. However, often, the sociocultural and livelihood aspects are overlooked, leading to issues post-relocation. For instance, high-rise buildings recently provided for relocated households may be economically efficient but differ greatly from traditional housing, reducing their acceptability. Relocating fisherfolk to areas without access to harbours can lead to negative outcomes and increase financial vulnerability.

Exploring the Options: Arab Oil Exporters and the US Dollar https://arabcenterdc.org/resource/exploring-the-options-arab-oil-exporters-and-the-us-dollar/
Jun 21, 2024 These so-called “petrodollars” help finance American debt and consumption. They also help maintain the dollar’s value against rival currencies despite US economic behavior that might otherwise weaken it. More importantly, the petrodollar encourages oil exporters to be physically invested in American assets and retain a stake in the wellbeing of the US economy which, if it fails, can take down many players with it.
The petrodollar trade dates back to the 1971 demise of fixed exchange rates using the gold standard. The loss of that standard was costly for oil exporters who saw export rents dropping alongside the dollar’s value. This decline was recently described as one of the precipitating causes of the 1973 Arab oil embargo that quadrupled the price of oil...The so-called “recycling” of petrodollars was facilitated through the US-Saudi Arabian Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation.
Has a 50-Year-Old Saudi Arabia-USA 'PetroDollar' Deal Ended? Here's What We Know https://www.thequint.com/news/webqoof/petrol-dollar-deal-ended-between-saudi-arabia-usa-explainer-fact-check#read-more all is not right in this post. Multiple questions arise, such as whether such a deal existed, what the deal was, and so on..1. .The Quint spoke to Dr Md Muddassir Quamar, Associate Professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), who clarified that the deal was one of economic and military cooperation only, but did not compel the Saudis to trade oil only in US dollars.
Comment: You become rich by taking in a lot of debt. (eg Adani). So who is going to be able to take in debt in the arena of world trade if US collapses? Similar is the case for the National Level Economy. The Infian State was able to take in a lot of debt upto now, as it held all the major infrastructure, and Services. This is weakening, as a lot of the revenue earners, like Land, Ports, Infrastructure, Railways, Road Transport etc is getting privatised. Will we be trading now in Adupees?
Is this the reason why govt. has been holding back on spending, not filling up vacancies, withholding "bonded" staff salaries, pensions, fasttags, meter deposits or creating a pool of inoperative bank accounts though impossible rules of repeated KYC etc?

The deal did not exclusively bind Saudi Arabia to deal in USD.
