Electric smart meters
BEST has come with another fraudulent request which cannot be enforced without positive consent of each electricity consumers.
This letter of request is evidence of the installation of smart electric meters carried out earlier by committing offence of trespassing, criminal breach of trust by public servants and theft
Without prejudice to our rights and contentions and with regards to the request to installation of the smart electric meters we over vehemently oppose your installation on the following grounds mentioned herein below amongst other grounds
RDSS statement is not binding on citizens and BEST CANNOT FORCE ON CITIZENS INSTALLATION OF SMART ELECTRIC METERS.
Smart electric meters are loots of tax payer money.
The notice is issued to chairman and President of society and not to individual consumer. How can society decide on the consent to be given by individual consumer.? The notice itself is illegal and bad in law.
No office bearer of society can give consent on behalf of the individual consumer.
Mr. Kamlakar Shenoy has raised some queries of blatant violations for which BEST has not given any legal reasons and explaiation
1. The installation of 11 lacs electronic electric meters was going on even after 31.10.22 as around 90000 meters were still to be installed. So as soon as electronic meters are installed now it will be changed to smart meters.

3. No metrology dept weight and measures dept certificate produced
4. Therefore inflated bills.
5. Purpose to bring down transmission distribution loss. BEST LOSS is 3.5% bare minimum
6. BEST consumers are not informed of the reduction in cost per unit after spending 1300 crores.
7. False statement that installation of smart electric meters is free of cost. No upfront charges. In fact subsidy is given by C government and claims shall be put through ARR before MERC.
8. Notices fixed on the entrance are illegal and faulty, without providing any details of study carried out.
Notice dt. 22.2.24 now submitted after consumers refused to install smart meters is with different format and contents from earlier submitted notice dt. 22.4.24.
This further proves the act of forgery and misrepresenting true facts.
That is why BEST have come out with this illegal request inspite of
DY. CHIEF MINISTER AND POWER MINISTER STATEMENT ON FLOOR OF ASSEMBLY THAT
SMART ELECTRIC METERS SHALL NOT BE INSTALLED IN RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL PREMISES BUT ONLY ON TRANSFORMERS , FEEDERS AND GOVERNMENT BUILDING.
Kindly note that BEST UNDERTAKING and/or any other distribution company shall be liable for criminal Prosecution of these Electric distribution companies send such illegal request and notices even after Power Minister has openly stated that smart meters shall not be installed in residential and commercial premises
