Prime Minister Narendra Modi couldn’t spot a single tiger or any big cat while on his 22-km safari in Bandipur Tiger Reserve (BTR) from 7.15 am to 9.30 am on Sunday. ...Excited and jittery, Madhusudhan, who is still having goosebumps after driving the PM, told The New Indian Express: “Sightings in forests is just luck. When I did the trial run on Friday and Saturday for the security teams, two tigers were sighted. In fact, the PM saw fresh tiger pugmarks, but just missed the tiger.
Criminal intent, direct act instigating suicide must to prove abetment: SC http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/99392117.cms Swati Deshpande Apr 11, 2023,
The arrest of a first-year student of IIT-Bombay on charges of abetting the suicide of his batchmate Darshan Solanki has again turned the spotlight on what constitutes this offence and the judicial pronouncements on abetment.
"In matters of abetment of suicide, human emotions play a very big part and, therefore, police must always be circumspect in exercising their power of arrest. The law on abetment to suicide is now fairly clear and well settled: such allegation of abetment must have a live link with the actual suicide," said senior counsel Amit Desai.
"Abetment involves a mental process of instigating a person or intentionally aiding a person in doing a thing. Without a positive act on the part of the accused to instigate or aid in committing suicide, conviction cannot be sustained," a Supreme Court bench of Justices Dalveer Bhandari and K S P Radhakrishnan said in 2010 defining 'abetment'.

In a 34-minute interview to Karan Thapar for The Wire, Naseeruddin Shah spoke about a range of issues that have been in the news recently. They include the Information and Broadcasting Minister, Anurag Thakur’s boast that “India has everything that any developed nation in the world has”, Foreign Minister Jaishankar’s criticism that the West “has a bad habit of commenting on others … if (they) keep doing this other people will also start commenting and they will not like it when it happens” as well as the Prime Minister’s claim, made most recently at President Biden’s Summit of Democracies, that India is “the mother of democracy”.
Besides the political motive, the arbitrary changes also reflect a lack of professionalism. Little respect was shown for discipline and pedagogical requirements.
The general criteria for ‘Rationalisation of the Content in the Textbooks’ are briefly spelt out somewhat vaguely:
“In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is imperative to reduce the content load on students. The National Education Policy 2020 also emphasises reducing the content load and providing opportunities for experiential learning with a creative mindset. In this background, the NCERT has undertaken the exercise to rationalise the textbooks across all classes.”
