AAP vs stubble burning: Farmers explain whether the ‘bio-decomposer’ really helped https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrbkuIghgAU Nov 24, 2021
“When the time was right, they didn’t come,” said Om Pal Singh about the #AAP government in Delhi. “Now, after the #SupremeCourt or centre or whoever has rapped them, I am getting continuous calls from government workers…”
Singh is a farmer in North Delhi’s Tigipur village, growing paddy and wheat. On October 11, the AAP government began its drive to spray free bio-decomposer across 4,000 acres of farmlands in the city to tackle the issue of #stubbleburning – believed to be a large contributor to air pollution in the capital.
But has it worked? Diksha Munjal visited several villages to find out. The bio-decomposer required watering, but at that time water is not available at that time, and little support from the government. Thus the project was ineffective.
Also in NE Delhi farmers do not have a stubble burning issue, as they use the stubble and sold as fodder etc. Farmers who do not use mahcine farming, are not benefitted by this process.
