Amul is not a competitor of Nandini: Amul MD  April 10, 2023 https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/other-states/amul-is-not-a-competitor-of-nandini-amul-md/article66721884.ece ‘The planned sale in Bengaluru is only through e-commerce platforms and not via a distribution network’
April 10, 2023 “Contrary to the reports of competition, we have a strong collaboration. During COVID-19 period, Amul got ₹200 crore worth of cheese from Nandini,” he said. “Moreover, Amul gets ice creams worth ₹100 crore manufactured in the plants of Nandini every year.”

This is going towards backdoor corporatisation of India's highly successful and resilient cooperative movement. Small farmers, milk producers are losing their hold in deciding milk procurement prices at Village level dairies.

Co-operative capitalism is no more welcome in the old form! It is on the chopping block of the fascist corporate predaters.

Fedaralism versus unitary state is also a factor.

Please see the entire thread:

The chronology!

There is a sustained process to centralise and privatise milk federations. Like what is being done with banks; remember Vijaya Bank.

July 2021 – Ministry of Cooperation formed with an aim to gain control over state-level cooperatives. Headed by Amit Shah.

October 2022 – Amit Shah declares that process of forming a multi-state cooperative society by merging Amul and five other cooperative societies has started.

December 2022 – Amit Shah declares that “Amul and KMF together will work towards ensuring a primary dairy in every village of Karnataka”

April 2023 - Amul announces supply fresh milk and other products in Bengaluru.

They have learnt from 'Gujarat experiment' that controlling cooperatives is a key to political domination in the state. They are now trying to emulate that in Karnataka and entrench themselves. But unfortunately for them Karnataka is no Gujarat. Their games will be defeated.

What if Nandini is to be merged with Amul! What if Nandini as a brand ceases to exist! Is this Karnataka being picked off systematically by Centre: one institution at a time!

Why Amul can’t beat Nandini: Karnataka’s Rs 1,200-crore incentive to farmers
Consumers in Bengaluru currently pay only Rs 39 for a litre of Nandini toned milk containing 3 per cent fat and 8.5 per cent SNF (solids-not-fat). Compare this with the Rs 54 per litre price for Amul toned milk in Delhi and Rs 52 per litre in Gujarat.
