Greetings from Siddharth village, Odisha!

As you are aware, the FCRA new amendments crushed many committed, dedicated NGOs in India to function to pay Field staff. It implies that NGOs should think of innovative ideas to be self-reliant without depending on external resources.

We,in THREAD from its inception, had the idea of being self-reliant to build a sustainable organisation and now to support 53 registered tribal and dalith women's organisations initiated by THREAD's training. This enabled us to survive and LIVE the organisation's life even during crises like adverse effects of new laws,COVID,misunderstanding and misconception of our efforts.

We are trainers at heart and continue to be a training institution, mentors and consultants. Despite, many ups and down, we continue to function -because of our starting social enterprises like eco-tourism, herbal medicines, training in the context of CHANGE WITHIN,that trigger change in the environment, consultations and Eco food court run by tribal women's organisations, all without losing our core values.

We would like to share our successes and failures through this training “Social enterprise for sustainability- an experiential learning retreat”conducted at Siddharth village Resorts ,Kakiriguma, Koraput Odisha. The aim of this training is to initiate a ’Movement', a collective of creators who support each other and live a life, sensitive to the planet that we all briefly occupy. To live a meaningful, inspiring and abundant life is to build a solid foundation of those things within oneself. We aspire to create a community that has the tools to be the change they wish to see in the societies they engage with.
