Alternative Visions
This man changed the fortunes of a barren land using traditional water wisdom. The story of Dhun-1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=415an1V0FxQ

This dry and dusty piece of 500-acres of land on the outskirts of Jaipur
once hardly had 30 trees on it. But today, the same land has over 120 species of birds, 70 species of native trees and thousands of animals.
This land in the Phagi district once had plenty of life in it. But a devastating flood ruined the topsoil and left the land to die and be part of the desert.
The fate of the land changed when Manavendra Singh Shekhawat, a hotelier from Jaipur saw the land back in 2013.
Instead of selling the land in parts, Manavendra aspired to do something different with the land, to create an alternative ecosystem to live in, to build a unique business model while keeping the land away from the unscientific and destructive practices.
And the first step for his dream project was to bring water to this dry land and using traditional water harvesting practices the land today has more than 8 waterbodies in it.
The water also has completely transformed the life and economy of the neighbouring villages as well.
With the water feeding the land and with 100s of trees and buzzing wildlife, Manavendra is now stepping on to build an alternate living space here.
The design of evolutionary guidance systems Bela H. Banathy https://doi.org/10.1002/sres.3850060403
Evolutionary gaps are potential sources of our destruction. We have the power within us to steer societal evolution toward a hoped-for future, provided we:
(1) develop evolutionary consciousness,
(2) create an evolutionary vision for societal development,
(3) acquire evolutionary competence, and
(4) apply our competence in guiding the evolution and development of our sociocultural and socio-technical systems. (a) a general model for evolutionary guidance, (b) the role of design in societal evolution, and (c) the process by which Evolutionary Guidance Systems can be created and used in societal development.
Dimensions of an Evolutionary Guidance System (Bela Banathy)
Social action: Ensuring social justice and an increase in cooperation, leading to the integration of our societal systems
Economic: Focusing on economic justice and integrated and indigenous development
Moral: Strengthening self-realization and social and ecological ethics
Wellness: Nurturing the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health and well being of the individual and society
Design: Nurturing the full development of individuals and social groups and enabling them to develop a design culture and attain evolutionary competence
Scientific: Manifesting ethical science that serves human and social betterment.
Technological: Placing technology under the guidance of sociocultural intelligence and in the service of the nonviolent resolution of conflicts, and the improvement of the quality of life for all
Aesthetic: Pursuing beauty, cultural and spiritual values, the various forms of art, the treasures of humanities, and the enrichment of
our inner quality of life
Political: Promoting self-determination, genuine participation in self-government, continuous action for peace development, global cooperation and integration, and governance for the improvement of human conditions

Yogendra Yadav: Alternative Politics and the Idea of Aap https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gIC6XHYSgo Mar 12, 2015 PLPDG@NLU
Alternative politics..we do not mean alternative to Politics. Syndrome of Hating Politics is Hating Democracy. while politics pervades all over the world, you dont need to democracy.. but democracy cannot survive without politics. More and more issues ought to be politicied so that they become centre stage .. like health, education.
Alt politics is also not political alternatives.. osiccilation within the estbalishment...operate within the same templates..
AAP is about alt. politics, deeper yearning.. balnce between political viability and ethical politics should be on the same side.
Organisation innovation: New in political organisations : honest politics, dont have to represent moneyed interest, inheritted privilege.. opening of the political class/elite to ..spirit of volunterism.. not part of the patronage network, connecting energy of social movements back to maintream politics.. spirit of Swaraj - human democratic spirit.
Ideological some new conversations: AAP does not fit into the tradtional ideological boxes.. AAP is opportunity space to discover new idieological oritentation. Many conversations that have reached a deaend not have some break. the four areas of such dead-end are-
economy- not left not right.. class politics without class struggle.. but not with the familiar ideology of class struggle of the 29th centrury.. Pro-people economy but is looking at new instruments about what it emean to be pro-people.. Left- pub;ic sector, license, quote.. state as agent .. AAp uncouples this.. working for poor does not have to be extract from the advantaged.. need to increase the pie , and state need not be the only agency.. you can be agnostic..
secularism: frozen positions: dominant model which is western.. which ordinary people cannot relate to.. Opp is majoritarinism... Both has problem,. Politics of secularism has kept minorities .. keep them insecure, minority is asked to bother only about security and not other secular issues like water, electricity, schools, hospitals . Idea of AAP is a New space.. to recognise minorities not only to be minorities but to be just ordinary citizen - same rights, and duties
nationalism: at the time of freedom stuggle Indian Nationalism was a very open liberal ideology.. nationalism is so open minded and open hearted. Not a trace of racialism in Indian Nationalism. In the last 60 years that nationalism has narrowed down, the symbols of nationalism has been captures by a very narrow minded creed, and on the other side you have the footbal club /cricket match type of nationalism. AAP opens up a new kind of nationalism, that celebrates diveristy, which is not about nation state, but which is about State-nation.
european model homogenised all the diversities.. melting pot v/s salad bowl.. model.
Social Justice: There are those who do not take to the idea of social justice, by promoting merit.. which disregard the inherit inequalities which impact so called merit. and on the opposite side there is the idea that social justice means reservations, and caste as the only criteria for that reservations.
Aap opens up that conversation to recognise the inequalities, but reservations need not be the only instrument..
Framers: Human Advantage in an Age of Technology and Turmoil https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gD0AvK_nQeQ Framing Decisions: A Book Talk About Human Advantage in an Age of Technology and Turmoil
https://youtube.com/embed/gD0AvK_nQeQ?start=192&end=779 more about what frames do when it comes to decision making.. what is a good decision.. human deisions are not entirely rational.. Frames are mental models that we have.. representation of reality. that we need because reality is too full of senses, noise.. full of information.. so much that we need to somehow focus and perhaps simplify a bit.. if we can play with the frames we actually can see more and better options..
In the books Frames: Elements of Frames - 3 Cs Causality, Counterfactuals, Constraints ..We play what if scenarios and get teh counterfactual . this is not anarchic, or wild but we constrain our dreaming.. We dream with constraints. that empowers us for better options.. At some point we may need to switch to a whole different frame. ie Reframe.
Ubuntu of ethics https://youtube.com/embed/gD0AvK_nQeQ?start=928&end=1233 Can we reach the right conclusion only with Hyper-rational data science? The end is a society that supports the people who comprise it.. that protects their rights and freedom. We all have the power of framing..which means we can think beyond the Western frames, presented .. Decolonising AI,data science a
New Economic Thinking discussion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bZUZNDwdC8 The essential tool that will enable humanity to find the best way through a forest of looming problems is defined in Framers by internationally renowned authors Kenneth Cukier, Viktor Mayer-Schönberger and Francis de Véricourt. From pandemics to populism, AI to ISIS, wealth inequity to climate change, humanity faces unprecedented challenges that threaten our very existence.
To frame is to make a mental model that enables us to see patterns, predict how things will unfold, and make sense of new situations. Frames guide the decisions we make and the results we attain. People have long focused on traits like memory and reasoning leaving framing all but ignored. But with computers becoming better at some of those cognitive tasks, framing stands out as a critical function—and only humans can do it. This book is the first guide to mastering this innate human ability.
https://youtu.be/9bZUZNDwdC8?t=1236 This book talk features Viktor Mayer-Schönberger, a co-author of the recently published book Framers: Human Advantage in an Age of Technology and Turmoil. The book explores how reframing some of the world's most challenging problems, particularly when it comes to technology, can create new opportunities and better outcomes for humans to not just survive but thrive in a world increasingly dominated by technology. Joining Viktor as discussants are Malavika Jayaram, the Executive Director of Digital Asia Hub, and Sabelo Mhlambi, founder of Bantucracy, who provide their own insights about the book.
