Padmaja Joshi Says and keeps repeating ( six times ) that MSP is being increased, so how can Farmers say that MSP is being finished. ( Graphics says "MSP Hiked continuously, yet fear mongering continues" " Politic overtakes facts in farm law agitation?" .
Rakesh Tikait says MSP price may be declared but what kind of guarantee do you have that there will be no sale at below MSP. MSP has meaning only if there is a mechanism that all produce is purchased at MSP or above it. Why cant a law be made that MSP was, is and will be as Padmaja Joshi says? That the mechanism /calculation that it needs to be increased by is not being implemented.
Anchors seem to stick to their logic. Namely if the MSP rate is increased, it automatically means that MSP is there to stay. The actual ground reality of non-purchase or purchase of lower that MSP through other market mechanism is not being considered by the anchor.. Perhaps they are waiting for Tikati to say that the Mandi are not working properly so they can then fire "then why are you oppose to the dismantling of the mandi and leaving it open to private players, which according to their logic would respect the declared MSP price!

BJP had in its manifesto siad they would follow Swaminathan Committee report of cost plus 50%. Then implement that formula for calculating MSP.
The new on Bajra MSP is 85% more than the cost. Urad Dal is 65% over the cost. Tur dal 62%, and other crops also is above 50%. Your calculation is A2 plus FM. But [promise was C2 plus FM. It is even less than the Swaminathan formula.. They have not included the land cost, rent, and labour is not included in A2.
Record procurement of wheat in 418 lakh tonnes.. Tikait still says that all produce is not being purchased.. Tehn how can all produce be purchased by Government? Tikait. If govt. cannot purchased, Market can purchase, but it should be at the MSP minimum.. make a law to that effect.

There is a denial of the fact that agricultural decisions, production and marketing is not controlled by the producer as in other industry. That pricing is easily manipulated by the markets, therefore it requires regulation, and that even if a percentage of the farmers dont get the MSP it means sure devastation.. as it proved by the increasing suicides, or migration. Finally it betrays the logic that if at all the food production has to be able to compete in the market, it will have to be controlled by a few conglomerates corporates so that they can control the marketing like it is in industry.
What this would do to bio-diveristy is not an issue. Nor the livelihood and culture of most of the country side.
