Mr. Dharmendra Kumar, convenor of the Amazon India Workers Association, states, "Workers are facing extremely high temperatures in the warehouses, reaching up to 34.2°C in some areas. These severe conditions have compelled workers to unionize to voice their demands. With the heat continuing to escalate and no relief in sight, the health problems among AIWA members are worsening. However, there has been no response or action from either Amazon or the labour ministry."
Sarita Fernandes, Co-convenor of Heatwave Action Coalition states, “Heatwaves are the new norm, heat is not– in northern India. The incident was avoidable if Amazon India had put its people over profits in India. Amazon India needs to respond to its workers' demands and provide accountability of their actions to the workforce and policy officials of India.”
