Shanti Bhushan Ji was a committed and brilliant advocate of the
oppressed. His command on law and the constitution was amazing. He exhibited humility at his command during pleadiing and created huge impact on the judges।Never would he resort to any views, nor any data that wasn't truthful.
We had very great experience during 6 years when he pleaded our case of sardar sarovar project. There was indepth questioning and difference of opinion which he began with us....but always admitted our ground level submissions and vision।I can never forget his visit to Narmada Valley।With his interaction with Adivasis in the hilly areas, where he reached with great difficulty,he was highly impressed and said, "मैं अभी तक दिमाग से लड़ा, लेकिन अब दिलसे लडूंगा।" That was indeed heartening and he did exactly that,till 2000....thru pro bono legal action,asserting justice. His contribution to the struggle against corruption, with Anna Hazare's fast was also very special,guiding all activists.
He always supported the fight for judicial accountability by Prashant Bhushan Ji.
We have lost a supporter of people's movements,as also a legal luminary, who was committed to democratic,constitutional and human rights.
Heartfelt condolences to Prashant ji and family...who has always shared all service to the society rendered by Shantibhushanjee.
